Terms of Service

Themis d.o.o.— Effective Date: 19 March 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Croatian Roots platform at croatianroots.net(the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Themis d.o.o., a company registered in Croatia with its registered office at Vlaška ulica 84, Zagreb (“we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms govern your access to and use of our website, client portal, eligibility tools, and all associated services.

2. Description of Services

Croatian Roots provides a technology-assisted platform to help diaspora descendants assess their eligibility for Croatian citizenship, manage the documentation process, and connect with licensed Croatian legal professionals. Our services include:

  • AI-powered eligibility assessment and pathway analysis
  • Document collection guidance and checklist generation
  • Certified document translation coordination
  • Case management through our client portal
  • Representation coordination with licensed Croatian attorneys
  • Educational content, guides, and resources

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice.

4. User Accounts

To access the client portal and case management features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration, maintain the security of your password and credentials, notify us immediately of any unauthorised access, and not share your account with others.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe have been compromised.

5. Payments & Refunds

All prices displayed on the platform are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payment is collected in full at the time of purchase via Stripe. By completing a purchase, you authorise us to charge the full amount to your selected payment method. We do not store your card details.

Due to the nature of our services — which involve significant upfront work including document review, legal analysis, and resource allocation — all payments are generally non-refundable once the case intake process has commenced. If you believe exceptional circumstances apply, please contact us at info@croatianroots.net within 14 days of purchase. Refund decisions are made at our sole discretion.

Your payment information is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on this platform — including text, guides, eligibility tools, the Croatian Roots brand, logos, and software — is the exclusive property of Themis d.o.o. or its licensors and is protected by Croatian and international intellectual property law.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, or create derivative works from any content on this platform without our prior written permission. Personal, non-commercial use for informational purposes is permitted.

7. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information in connection with a citizenship application
  • Violate any applicable Croatian, EU, or international law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform or its systems
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform by automated means
  • Harass, threaten, or harm other users or our staff
  • Use the platform for any purpose other than your own personal citizenship matter
  • Resell or commercially exploit any part of the Service without written authorisation

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Eligibility assessments produced by our AI tools are indicative only and are not a guarantee of outcome. Croatian citizenship decisions are made solely by the Croatian Ministry of the Interior (MUP).

We make no guarantee that any citizenship application submitted with our assistance will be approved. Success depends on the accuracy of information provided by the client and the decisions of Croatian government authorities.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Themis d.o.o. and its directors, employees, partners, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, or goodwill — arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Croatian law.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us at info@croatianroots.net. Please note that closing your account does not entitle you to a refund for any services already commenced.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you breach these Terms, provide false information, or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to us, other users, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Croatia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. EU consumer protection regulations apply where mandated by law.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zagreb, Croatia, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you by email or by a prominent notice within the platform.

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service.
